Our Programs

When it comes to substance abuse, the first step to recovery is an addiction detox program. Our California detox center at Phoenix Rising provides the amenities and support necessary to help each person begin their journey to recovery.

The strength of Phoenix Rising is that we care about you and understand your struggle. There’s no judgment and no time constraints; only compassion and patience.

We believe that you can rise above the pain like a phoenix. From pain comes growth and valuable lessons. Our goal is to help you see that.

What is the Process of Detoxification?

The process of detoxification is the timeframe in which your body rids itself of harmful toxins accumulated through substance use. Detoxification is generally the first step of an addiction treatment program.

In many cases, medical intervention may be a necessary addition to an addiction detox program. After extended drug or alcohol use, your body’s natural chemistry changes. As a result, withdrawal symptoms occur. Medicine may be prescribed to help alleviate these symptoms.

These symptoms range from fatigue and migraines to depression and anxiety. It’s crucial to have these symptoms monitored in a professional medical setting.

Our California detox center will help your body rebalance itself so you can begin the core components of treatment with more of a clean slate.

The Process of Detoxification: What Kind of Medicine is Prescribed in a Medical Intervention?

In a medically assisted detox, we’ll prescribe medication as you slowly taper off the substance. These medications help move along the process as they mitigate withdrawal symptoms and ease cravings. We do not take the use of medication lightly.

Our medical team will ensure you are safe and healthy throughout the entire duration of the detox process. Medication that may be prescribed at our California detox center includes:

  • Buprenorphine

Buprenorphine is generally used when an individual experiences intense opioid withdrawal. It helps by easing cravings and physical symptoms.

  • Naltrexone

Naltrexone blocks receptors in the brain that react to opioids like heroin. This medication can also ease cravings.

We generally complete a medical detox in three core steps. These steps include:

The evaluation will include a questionnaire, physical exam, blood tests, and screening for co-occurring mental health disorders or other medical conditions. The goal of an evaluation is for our medical team to get an accurate analysis of your physical and mental state. We then use this information to customize an addiction treatment plan that suits your unique needs best.

The next step involves patients ending substance use. Through the process of detoxification at our California detox center, you’ll be monitored as your body cleanses itself. This process can take anywhere from one to three weeks.

The core components of treatment will begin after detox. Becoming psychologically prepared for the addiction recovery journey is key. We understand that it can be overwhelming to begin treatment. Our caring addiction counselors will help set you up for success in the preparation stage.

What Withdrawal Symptoms Should I Expect During Detoxification?

The exact withdrawal symptoms individuals experience will range depending on the severity of addiction, among other factors. Withdrawal symptoms can last anywhere from one to three weeks. The peak of these symptoms is typically experienced around 24 to 72 hours after the last drink or the last drug is taken.

We encourage you to reach out to our addiction counselors to get a better understanding of withdrawal symptoms during the detox process.

In the meantime, the bullets below list the most common withdrawal symptoms:

  • Confusion
  • Agitation
  • Sweats and chills
  • Headaches
  • Muscle aches
  • Fatigue
  • Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
  • Seizures

Why We Need Addiction Detox Programs

addiction detox programs drug and alcohol detox center

California has notoriously high addiction rates. Substance abuse is currently the number one premature killer in the state, even beating car accidents. While the numbers are scary, the real focus at Phoenix Rising is on the individual. Addiction takes a toll on you and your loved ones that can’t be calculated by statistics.

But there is always hope. It is never too late to begin the healing process. The very thought of a drug and alcohol detox center frightens some people. However, it is not only necessary for recovery, but it’s also often not as scary as people think. The goal is to comfort, guide, and support so you can rebuild a healthy life.

Available Drug and Alcohol Detox Center Services

Whether you need drug detox or alcohol detox, Phoenix Rising provides a full spectrum of services. The diversity and depth of our treatment options ensure that your specific needs can be met. Every person’s recovery is unique, and the addiction detox programs should reflect that.

Below are the services Phoenix Rising offers.

  • Outpatient Treatment – These programs allow clients to receive treatment while still maintaining their personal and professional lives.
  • Intensive Outpatient Program – A step up in commitment from outpatient programs. You still go home at the end of the day, but you may come in up to four or five days a week.
  • Partial Hospitalization Program – This is another step up in commitment, but not quite as intense as inpatient programs. Clients live in a sober living home and receive transportation to and from the treatment facility. The duration of treatment is also usually less.
  • Residential Treatment – Clients can stay for 90 days (or longer) to take the time they need to fully recover.
  • Sober Living – This service gives residents housing where they can find accountability and solidarity in their fellow recoverers. A trigger- and substance-free environment can make a world of difference.
  • Aftercare Program – Support systems are essential to recovery. Aftercare programs allow alumni to continue to meet post-rehabilitation.
