Never been through a program before but glad it was here. Staff and counselors were very good and easy to talk to. Meals were good n plenty and then some. Thank you for helping me get my life back on track. Munoz PerformanceTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This is a great program. I love the staff here especially shep. He was a cornerstone to my recovery here. All the staff was great. But shep was definitely my rock here Cheryl DeeTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. It feels impossible for me to adequately put into words what Phoenix Rising and their staff means to me. It’s been 9 months since I arrived there, totally broken, hopeless, scared, sick, sad, and ashamed. I was on the verge of death, either by suicide or my failing health due to my addiction and total breakdown. And now, I have hope, I have sobriety, and my life back. Their program is so special and so well rounded. They think outside of the box with their treatment and make mindful accommodations when necessary. Aside from the usual offerings of therapy, trauma work, 12 step meetings and sober fun days outside of the facility, there is meditation and sound baths, misc outings (hello mani pedi day and softball) and hiking, beautiful pools to swim in, art therapy, writing therapy, and so much more. You learn the science and psychology of addiction, trauma and recovery. You are fed delicious food. Most importantly, you are surrounded by a staff who cares so much. Whomever is responsible for their hiring has a true gift for choosing the right people. If you’re reading this and wondering, please go. Go to this safe, healing place. Go with an open heart, open mind, and willingness. Save yourself. Save your life. Heal. Learn. Grow. Thank you Genevieve, for being the incredible backbone of the facility. Thank you Candice, for being my mama goose- for your warm hug and telling me “you’re home now. You’re safe” as I exited the car crying and defeated on my arrival. Thank you Brie, Chelsi, Jordan, Meditation Mark, and Michelle. I remember and cherish you all. I’m so thankful for you. I’m doing well guys!!! I’m hiking and dreaming and working and cherishing all the things I love!!! I am alive. Lisa DockeryTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This place was amazing! Treatment Programs
What is Residential Treatment?
When you enroll in residential treatment, otherwise known as inpatient treatment, you temporarily live at our facility. During your stay, you will be able to engage in our broad range of therapies and activities. A long-term residence usually lasts anywhere from 30 to 90 days, although we have some people stay longer.
The purpose of our residential treatment centers in California is that some people require a higher level of supervision and care. Addiction can take away your sense of self-control or agency.
Addiction, by its very nature, attempts to render you incapable of maintaining change. We understand this struggle and are here to help. We will slowly ease you back into a place where you have self-control and independence. In the meantime, we will work with you to make sure you’re ready when that time comes.
The journey to sobriety is not an easy road. Through accountability, supervision, holistic treatment, and quality therapy, residential treatment can jump-start your journey towards recovery.
Who Should Attend Our Residential Treatment Centers in California?
Learning to maintain sobriety proves to be challenging, especially in the early days. An individual who takes advantage of residential treatment will be able to attend their necessary treatment while living in a safe, supportive environment. There are many benefits to attending residential treatment.
Residential treatment can be ideal for someone who has completed detox but does not have a positive support system to return to when they go home. They may not have a stable living situation in place or they may reside with someone who has their own substance use disorder. Staying in a residential facility provides them a safe place to be 24/7. They are surrounded by peers who have the same goals to stay sober and can support each other in that pursuit.
Living a life ruled by addiction to drugs or alcohol is chaotic. Residential treatment allows people to take advantage of a calm living environment with no distractions from their old lives. Job, school, and personal distractions are put to the side while the individual focuses solely on improving their physical and mental health. After completing treatment, they are able to return to their home lives in a stronger frame of mind and with a respectable amount of time being sober under their belt.
Substance Abuse in California
California Health Care Foundation reported in 2018 some alarming statistics about substance abuse in the state. They include:
- Alcohol use is the most common type of substance use disorder
- Six percent of Californians are dependent on alcohol
- Three percent of Californians are dependent on illicit drugs
- Substance use disorders occur among adults 18 to 25 at almost twice the rate of other ages
- By the time a California student reaches the 11th grade, more than half have tried alcohol; almost 40% have tried marijuana
- Heroin-related E.R. visits more than tripled from 2006 to 2017
These statistics show the need for addiction treatment programs throughout California.
Types of Therapy at Our Residential Treatment Center in California
At Phoenix Rising, we offer you a large variety of therapy options here in California. During your stay at our residential addiction treatment centers, you can decide which combination of therapies will work best for you. Here are a few of our options.
Dual Diagnosis
Dual diagnosis is the practice of identifying any co-occurring mental illnesses and addiction. Addiction rarely happens in a vacuum. Depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and others can all have a dangerous and complex synergy with substance use. Identifying the underlying issues of your struggle is a key part of healing.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
This form of evidence-driven psychotherapy dives into your thoughts and beliefs relating to your substance use. You have a web of feelings and connections that run between these influencers. Of course, understanding them can help you build healthy coping mechanisms. You’ll be able to address and work through the roots of addiction.
Family Therapy
This mode of therapy encourages the loved ones of a recovering individual to participate in addiction recovery. Family therapy focuses on creating a healthy family dynamic by working through any present issues. All members of the family are able to share their thoughts and feelings in a supportive space.
Group Therapy
This form of psychotherapy involves a group of clients working with one or more therapists together. The group dynamic can be a great asset to someone in recovery. Seeing the similarities and differences in the struggles of your peers lets you see yourself with greater clarity. You’ll be able to give and get support while receiving it right back.
Music and Art Therapy
These therapies use elements of creativity and art to help you heal. These forms of therapy are especially useful for those struggling with co-occurring mental illnesses.
Mindful Meditation
Meditation helps you learn to be ever-present in reality. It lets you learn who you are on a moment-to-moment basis. It helps you let go of the past and the future and focus on healing and balance. Through consistent practice, one can develop a deep inner peace from meditation.
Gender-Based Residential Treatment Center in California
Gender-based addiction treatment is designed to treat both genders individually, according to their unique differences. The National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) states that there are significant biological and cultural differences between men and women when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction. These differences can be found in the rates of dependence, choice of substance, and how the brain responds to substance use.
Women-Specific Residential Treatment Center
There are many advantages to women-specific treatment for substance abuse. Women are able to relate to one another regarding topics such as motherhood, the workplace, family dynamics, and relationships.
For example, women who have experienced verbal, physical, or sexual assault by a man may feel more comfortable talking about this with female staff and patients. If you’re a mother struggling with addiction, gender-based treatment can also be beneficial.
Being away from your children during treatment can be stressful. Perhaps there are certain issues regarding your children that only a woman would truly understand. Through the support of other women and professionals, female patients can open up about these types of topics. Receiving advice from other women who understand is another helpful aspect.
As a woman, there’s power in being able to empower other women. The goal of long-term sobriety can be achieved through gender-specific treatment.
Men-Specific Residential Treatment Center
Men also have their own unique characteristics and needs when it comes to substance abuse treatment. Many men can relate to one another regarding male cultural roles and stereotypes. As a male, one may feel that addiction treatment results in judgment and weakness. Through gender-based addiction treatment, men can feel more comfortable and accepted.
It is also common for males to need more time than women to open up about their thoughts and feelings. This makes certain therapy techniques more effective for men. For example, men respond better to treatment methods that address specific thought patterns and behaviors as compared to introspection.
Male sexual abuse is another serious issue that gender-based treatment can delve into better than regular treatment. Our men’s-specific residential treatment center in California creates an understanding and supportive network that encourages long-term recovery.
Residential programs have a 65% completion rate, while outpatient programs have a 52% completion rate.
76-78% of clients who stayed in residential treatment for at least 3-6 months were able to remain abstinent after treatment, compared to 51-52% of clients who did not stay in treatment.
In 2015, over 38,000 people entered a residential program for alcohol abuse, over 65,000 people began inpatient rehabilitation for heroin addiction, and over 18,000 people enrolled in a residential program for other opiate addictions.
